Our Mission

Fiona Beach, now a Trustee of the charity, first visited St. Michael’s Primary School for girls in 2002. She then returned to the school every year, often bringing friends and family with her, and started to raise funds for the building of the library.

By 2009 a charity was established to offer practical support to St Michael’s which, over time, has extended to include Bishop Willigers, the secondary school next door. The support for both schools ensures a smooth transition from primary to secondary school. In recent years support has also been offered to another mixed primary school called St Mulumbas.

The charity is focused on child, teacher and staff welfare and takes a holistic approach to supporting the education of the circa 1,500 children across the three schools in the rural village of Namunyumya.

Everyone who works for the charity is a volunteer which means there are no overheads and that all donations go directly to supporting the work of the three schools.

How We Work

The charity is run by five Trustees. We have no premises, we work from home using our own equipment. We work very closely with St Michael’s and the other village schools, engaging with staff, parents and school management committees as well as the village of Namunyumya to ensure that all money and gifts are targeted to projects that are sustainable.

Our Trustees all volunteer their time and experience and self fund any trips out to Uganda in their capacity as Trustees. We feel strongly that all money given to the charity goes directly to supporting the schools and the village of Namunyumya.

Travel restrictions permitting, we aim for at least two of the Trustees to travel to Namunyumya every year to ensure the work of the charity remains relevant and has impact.
